Support the People
Who Support Everyone Else
Every dollar donated and every hour volunteered directly supports a family caregiver who is struggling in silence. Whether you give your time, your resources, or your voice, your contribution makes a measurable difference in the lives of Oregon's 450,000 family caregivers.
Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteer corps of more than 80 community members is essential to our work. We offer meaningful roles for people with a wide range of skills, availability, and experience levels. All volunteers complete a 6-hour orientation and background check before beginning service.
Companion Visitor
Provide companionship and light assistance to care recipients while their caregiver takes a break. Trained volunteers visit homes for 3 to 4 hours weekly, offering conversation, reading aloud, playing games, or simply being a calm, reassuring presence. This is our most impactful volunteer role, directly providing free respite hours to families who cannot afford paid care.
Commitment: 3–4 hours/week • 6-month minimum
Workshop Facilitator
Licensed professionals (RNs, PTs, OTs, attorneys, financial planners, nutritionists) lead monthly educational workshops on topics within their expertise. Facilitators receive our curriculum guidelines and can adapt content to their presentation style. CEU credits are available for qualifying professionals through our partnership with OHSU Continuing Education.
Commitment: 1 workshop per quarter • 2-hour sessions
Office & Event Support
Help with reception, data entry, resource packet assembly, event coordination, fundraising mailings, and community outreach. Essential behind-the-scenes work that keeps our programs running smoothly. Flexible scheduling available, including some remote tasks for those who cannot come to the office.
Commitment: 4–8 hours/month • Flexible scheduling
Make a Tax-Deductible Gift
The Caregiver Health & Wellness Alliance is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (EIN: 83-4127560). All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. We maintain an 87% program services ratio, meaning the vast majority of every dollar you give directly funds caregiver support programs.
Our annual operating budget is funded through a diversified mix of foundation grants (42%), individual donations (31%), government contracts (18%), and corporate partnerships (9%). Individual donors are the backbone of our unrestricted funding, which allows us to respond nimbly to emerging needs, fund emergency respite for families in crisis, and maintain our commitment to providing core services at no cost.
We accept gifts by check (payable to Caregiver Health & Wellness Alliance, mailed to our Portland office), bank transfer, donor-advised fund grants, workplace giving through Combined Federal Campaign (#84127) and Oregon State Employees Charitable Fund, and appreciated securities. For gifts of $5,000 or more, or to discuss a planned gift or bequest, please contact our Executive Director directly at (503) 555-0147 ext. 1.
